The Line: Fresno State Bulldogs -1½ -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Wyoming and Fresno State will play each other for the first time this season in a Wednesday night battle at the Save Mart Center. The Cowboys are winners of four straight and are establishing themselves as one of the better teams in the Mountain West. The Bulldogs have lost five straight, including two back-to-back overtime heartbreakers.
What in the world is going on with Fresno State?
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports
The team hasn’t caught many breaks in the second half of the season and is allowing teams to average 10 more points than points scored in its last five games. The Bulldogs are shooting less than 38 percent in their last five games and giving up 45.1 percent on the other end. I guess the bright news is that they did manage to take solid teams such as San Diego State and UNLV down to the wire. Maybe that’s a sign of them being able to turn things around.
Wyoming has been able to find itself over the last week, as it’s shooting nearly 50 percent and holding teams to 40.5 percent defensively in its last five. Even the free throw shooting has improved to 81.1 percent during this stretch. The Cowboys have been on fire at both ends of the floor recently and will look to cover for the fifth time in eight tries on the road this season.
This is really a question whether you take the home team that’s desperate for the win or the hot team that is playing its best basketball of the season?
Call me crazy, but I think Fresno State gets it done here.
The Bulldogs have come close with the last two games going to overtime. The home crowd can only help, and Wyoming is only 3-4 straight up on the road this season.
Take the small chalk and cross your fingers.
