The North Carolina Tar Heels travel to Georgia Tech to play the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday.

North Carolina improved to 12-7, 2-4 ACC after beating Clemson 80-61 on Sunday afternoon. The Tar Heels shot 55.4% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range. North Carolina reached the free=throw line 19 times and only made 52.6% of their attempts. James Michael McAdoo scored a team-high 22 points for the Tar Heels, who kept the Tigers winless all-time in Chapel Hill. Marcus Paige added 15 points for North Carolina in a dominating performance. The Tar Heels played with more energy and aggressiveness than during their recent struggles. On the year, Paige leads all scorers with 16.7 points per game, while also averaging a team-high 4.2 assists. McAdoo is averaging 14.8 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game. The Tar Heels are shooting 45.8% from the field and averaging 75.4 points per game as a team this season. North Carolina is one the best rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging 40.6 boards per contest. After losing three straight to start 2014, the Tar Heels have won two out of their last three. North Carolina will head back out on the road where they are 1-4 on the season.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. North Carolina Tar Heels Pick-Odds-Prediction 1/29/14

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dropped to 11-9, 2-5 ACC after losing at North Carolina State in overtime 80-78 on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets shot 43.1% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc. Georgia Tech reached the charity stripe 23 times and made 69.6% of their attempts. Daniel Miller scored a career-high 21 points for Georgia Tech. On the season, Trae Golden is averaging a team-high 14.3 points and 3.4 assists per contest. Miller is averaging 10.7 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 69.5 points per game while shooting 43.9% from the field as a team this year. Georgia Tech is a decent rebounding team, averaging 37.4 boards per game. The Yellow Jackets have lost three out of their last four games overall and are coming home after a two-game road trip. Georgia Tech has lost their last two home games to Miami and Pittsburgh.

North Carolina played well last weekend, but they have been inconsistent all year, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they had a letdown in this game. Georgia Tech has had some injuries to deal with this season and they are struggling since starting conference play. The Yellow Jackets have lost their last two home games and I think they will make it three on Wednesday. I’m taking the Tar Heels to get only their second win on the road this season.
