Storyline: Butler hopes to snap a three-game skid when they take the road to face Seton Hall Wednesday.
The Breakdown: Butler sits in last place in the Big East, dropping to 1-7 after a 69-52 loss to St. John’s Saturday for their second straight. The Bulldogs were outshot from the field 52.6 percent to 44.2 percent and connected on just 1 of 8 from outside the arc to the Red Storm’s 5 of 13. Butler was also outrebounded 35-21 and committed 9 turnovers. Senior F Kyle Marshall had a team-high 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting, sophomore G Kellen Dunham scored 13 points, including 4 of 4 from the free throw line, and junior F Cameron Woods added 7 points and 7 boards. Through 20 games, Butler is averaging 72.1 ppg on 43.8 percent shooting. Dunham leads the team in scoring with 18.1 ppg, followed by Marshall at 15.8 ppg.
Seton Hall, meanwhile, is in 5th place in the conference with a record of 3-4 and comes in off an 86-69 victory over DePaul Saturday. The Pirates shot a stellar 56.6 percent from the field and hit 8 of 20 from outside the arc to the Blue Demons’ 41.8 percent from the floor and 6 of 19 from downtown. Seton Hall also forced 14 turnovers, but were outrebounded 32-30. Senior F Fuquan Edwin scored a game-high 30 points on 11 of 16 shooting, while junior F Patrick Auda and senior C Gene Teague both added 9 points. On the season, the Pirates are averaging 76.8 ppg on 45.6 percent shooting. Sophomore G Sterling Gibbs leads the team in scoring with 15.1 ppg, followed by Edwin at 13.7 ppg.
