The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Florida Gators face off on Thursday in a SEC college basketball matchup.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 3-3 in the SEC this season but they have played just the 223rd ranked schedule in the nation. MSU is 11-1 at home this season but they are 2-5 against teams with a RPI better than 150. Craig Sword leads the Bulldogs averaging 13.9 points per game. Gavin Ware is averaging 11 points and 8.2 rebounds, Colin Borchert is averaging 10.4 points, and Roquez Johnson is averaging 10 points. Mississippi State is averaging 70.9 points and they are shooting 45.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 69.3 points and their opponents are shooting 43.8 percent. Mississippi State is in the middle of the pack in SEC standings.

The Florida Gators have cracked the top five ranking number three in the nation and they are also unbeaten in the SEC and in first place in the conference. UF is 6-2 away from home and they have played the 39th ranked schedule in the country. Casey Prather leads the Gators averaging 16.8 points and 5.4 rebounds. Scottie Wilbekin is averaging 12.5 points, Michael Frazier II is averaging 12.3 points, and Patric Young is averaging 10.6 points and 6.2 rebounds. Florida is averaging 71.8 points and they are shooting 46.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.8 points and their opponents are shooting 38.8 percent. Florida is clearly one of the teams to beat with March Madness right around the corner.
Mississippi State is 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games, 4-1 against the spread following a win, and 4-1 against the spread against the SEC. Florida is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning home record, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games following a win by more than 20 points. The home team has covered the point spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
This is just a ton of points to be laying at this point in the season in a conference game so my pick here is just a lean to Mississippi State getting the bundle of points.
