Storyline: St. Peter’s hopes to put the brakes on a three-game slide when they play host to Rider Friday.
The Breakdown: St. Peter’s sits in a tie for 7th place in the MAAC, dropping to 3-7 following a 71-63 loss to Iona Sunday. The Peacocks were outshot from the field 47.2 percent to 40.3 percent and from outside the arc 40.0 percent to 28.0 percent. St. Peter’s also conceded a 36-35 rebounding edge to the Gaels and committed 15 turnovers. Junior F Marvin Dominique scored a game-high 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds, junior G Desi Washington had 13 points and 3 assists and freshman G Trevis Wyche added 11 points and 4 assists. On the season, the Peacocks are averaging 64.9 ppg on 39.8 percent shooting. Dominique leads the team in scoring with 17.5 ppg, followed by Washington at 12.9 ppg.

Meanwhile, Rider is in 5th place in the conference with a record of 6-4 and comes in off a 77-71 overtime victory at Monmouth Sunday. Senior F Daniel Stewart scored a game-high 21 points on 7 of 12 from the floor and hit 3 of 5 from downtown, senior G Tommy Pereira had 20 points off the bench, including 6 of 7 from distance, and senior G Anthony Myles added 12 points and 6 assists. The Broncos connected on 46.9 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from beyond the arc to Monmouth’s 43.1 percent from the floor and 10 of 26 from distance. Rider also came away with a 39-38 advantage on the boards and forced 17 turnovers. Through 19 games, Rider is averaging 76.8 ppg on 44.5 percent shooting. Myles leads the team with 17.9 ppg, followed by Stewart at 15.8 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -1.5 for St. Peter’s. The Peacocks handed Rider an 8-point home loss when these two got together a couple weeks ago, despite a season-high 28 points from Daniel Stewart. The Broncos are averaging a ton more points, about 12 to be exact, and shooting at far more accurate clip. The points look like the play right now.
