The Northern Illinois Huskies look for back to back victories when they visit the Ball State Cardinals.
When I say Northern Illinois strives to control the scoreboard it's backed up with the offense averaging less then 62 points. That really stretches the defense who can not afford an off night which means anything allowed much more 65 points is a crap shoot. That wasn't a problem Wednesday when NIU rolled in to Kent State and emerged a 50-49 winner as an eleven point underdog. Both teams sank shots in the 35% range and combined for 37 turnovers in a slow and sloppy contest. Northern Illinois received 14 points from Askel Bolin with Jordan Threloff and Travon Baker adding 21 points with Threloff posting eight boards.

Ball State is very similar to their counterparts in that the scoreboard has to be very manageable because poinst are at a premium. The Cardinals 1-6 conference record says to containing opposing attacks hasn't been a real successful endeavor. It can be a bad thing when both ends of the floor struggle which happened in 73-46 loss at Akron on Wednesday. The Zips barged out to a 35-19 lead at the half with the visitors held to 35% marksmanship and 20 turnovers. Majok Majok was the only double digit scorer with 15 points on 7-9 shooting while Zavier Turner chipped in with nine.
The winner of this one could be the first to reach 60 points in what figures to be a battle of halfcourt attacks. I think Northern Illinois has played better thus far and getting points with them is hard to pass up...
