The Cal Golden Bears and the Arizona Wildcats face off on Saturday in Pac-12 college basketball.
After starting their Pac-12 season 5-0 the Cal Golden Bears have lost their last three games. Cal has slipped to third place in the Pac-12 but they are 10-1 at home this season. Justin Cobbs is the Bears leading scorer averaging 15.5 points and 6.0 assists per game. Richard Solomon is averaging 11.6 points and 10.7 rebounds, David Kravish is averaging 11.6 points and 7.5 rebounds, and Tyrone Wallace is averaging 11.6 points. Cal is averaging 75.8 points and they are shooting 46.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 69 points and they are shooting 41.4 percent. Cal has shown the ability to play up to anyone but lately they just haven’t looked like the same team we saw just a few weeks ago.

The Arizona Wildcats are still unbeaten and ranked number one in the country sitting at 21-0. Arizona has done it every way winning big, winning close games, and all while playing the 17th ranked schedule in the country. Nick Johnson continues to lead the Wildcats averaging 16.7 points per game. Aaron Gordon is averaging 12 points and 7.9 rebounds, Brandon Ashley is averaging 12 points and 6.0 rebounds, and Kaleb Tarczewski is averaging 9.2 points and 6.4 rebounds. Arizona is averaging 74.3 points and they are shooting 48.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 56.7 points and their opponents are shooting 37.2 percent. Arizona has showed no signs of slowing down and gutted out their win on Wednesday at Stanford.
Cal is 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games against a team with a winning road record, 3-9-1 against the spread following a double digit home loss, and 1-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. Arizona is 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games, 15-6 against the spread following a win, and 16-7 against the spread in their last 23 games overall. The underdog is 3-0-1 against the spread in the last four meetings of these two.
This a manageable number for Arizona on the road and I look for them to prove once again that they are the better team on the court.
