The Providence Friars look to get another win streak going as they visit the DePaul Blue Demons Saturday at 1PM on Fox Sports One.

Providence saw their five game win streak come to an end this past weekend in an ugly loss at Marquette 61-50.  The Friars made the outcome look closer in the second half but the Golden Eagles were too much defensively and the strong home court advantage of the Bradley Center was the difference.  Providence was absolutely dismal from the floor in the first half as the Golden Eagles got transition buckets all over the place on the way to the 31-14 halftime lead.  The Friars point total at the break marked their lowest of the season.  Providence finished the game 2-17 from deep and the entire team combined for just 13 points outside of Cotton and Henton’s 38 combined points.

DePaul Blue Demons vs. Providence Friars Pick-Odds-Prediction 2/1/14

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

DePaul fell below .500 this past weekend with a 86-69 loss on the road at Seton Hall.  The Blue Demons continue to be doomed by their inconsistent play and porous defense.  Against the Pirates, Brandon Young led the way with 23 points and RJ Curington added 15 off of the bench.  The Blue Demons won the rebounding battle, but finished with just 41% shooting to Seton Hall’s red hot 56%.  DePaul committed 21 team fouls and managed a terrible 4 total team assists to go along with 14 turnovers. Meanwhile, Seton Hall added 21 team assists and consistently executed their half court set against the Blue Demons D.

Providence had a blip on their schedule and are much more capable than the horrid offensive showing they put forth in Milwaukee.  I like the Friars to get their main contributors back in the groove against DePaul as Providence gets to six conference wins behind Bryce Cotton and Kadeem Batts big games.  The Friars take the cover in the windy city.
