For the second time this season, New Mexico and San Jose State will play one another in a Mountain West showdown. The Spartans lost the game 69-65, but it was one of their closer games during their current nine-game losing streak.
The Spartans just can’t wait for their season to come to an end, as they’ve lost three straight by at least 20 points. In their last five games, they’re shooting 35.2 percent from the field and scoring only 53.8 points. Defensively, they’re allowing 73 points and 46.2 percent of shots to go in. They’re also being outrebounded by 10 per game. It’s been an ugly season and when you add a 9-10 against the spread record to the conversation, there’s no reason to pick San Jose State against anybody.

New Mexico has won four straight and has really turned it up offensively, scoring at least 78 points in three of those games. They’ve also been one of the more consistent defensive teams in the Mountain West, giving up just 39.8 percent and 70.9 points on the season.
There’s really no explanation needed here. You either take New Mexico and the high chalk or you look elsewhere for action. Considering the Saturday schedule is full of great games, that shouldn’t be a problem.
However, for the sake of the article, I’ll take the Lobos at home. After all, they’ve covered the spread in their last four games.
