The UC Davis Aggies shoot for the upset of the Santa Barbara Gauchos at the UCSB Events Center.
If you glance at the numbers UC Davis has put up you can see this team isn't all that bad offensively. However we can't say that about the defensive end of the floor which is allowing over 78 points. The Aggies picked up a 62-58 decision over Cal Poly in a half court battle where both squads sank shots at 49%. The difference was UCD was deadly from beyond the arc, going 10-22 compared to the Mustangs 3-10 effort. Corey Hawkins gave the Aggies 16 points and six assists with Ryan Sypkens netting 14 while the combo of Georgi Funtarov and Avery Johnson added 21 points with Funtarov posting six pulls.

Santa Barbara flies a little under the radar and have their flops like everybody else but I do like this team with the ability to score and defend. This has the Gauchos in a three way tie for first in the Big West at 4-2 and both were at the top of their game in an 80-60 rout of visiting UC Irvine. The Anteaters were limited to 35.7% from the field which didn't compete with the Gauchos 49% accuracy with the home team also enjoying a 24-11 advantage at the stripe. Alan Williams was the go to man offensively with 26 points and nine rebounds with Taran Brown added 16 points and six yanks following Kyle Boswell and Mitch Brewe with 18 points.
I think Santa Barbara has the make up to compete in many conferences around the country but we don't see them because they are on the west coast. They are one of the better Big West squads and they get my vote here although I don't generally like big chalk...
