The Line: UNLV Rebels -3.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
It should be a hell of a game when Boise State and UNLV clash Saturday night in a battle between two of the better teams in the Mountain West. Both head into the matchup on a mini winning streak and are still looking for respect from the rest of the conference.
This does have the potential to be an offensive explosion with Boise State averaging 79.4 points and UNLV dropping 72.8 points per game. However, neither team has been all that hot from the field as of late with Boise State shooting just 42.4 percent during its last five games and UNLV shooting an even worse 40.1 percent.
Depending on which team shows up, the advantage could go to the UNLV defense. While the Broncos are allowing teams to score 69.7 points and shoot 45.1 percent, the Rebels hold teams to just 63.9 points and 38.5 percent. UNLV has allowed only one team to score anywhere close to 70 points in its last four games and Fresno State needed overtime to make that happen.
Considering UNLV is much better defensively and is on its home court, I have to go with the Rebels. The Broncos have lost every big game they’ve played this season and are 6-10 against the spread. Meanwhile, the Rebels are 13-7-1 against the spread and have won eight of their last 10 home games SU.
Boise State is an average 3-3 SU on the road.
Take the home team with fairly high confidence.
