Fresh off a huge resume win, the Georgetown Hoyas look to get a streak going as they visit the DePaul Blue Demons in the Windy City Monday at 9PM on Fox Sports 1.
Georgetown got the much needed win they have been searching for this past weekend at Madison Square Garden as they stepped out of conference play to defeat Michigan State 64-60. The Spartans were short handed, but the Hoyas hung on for the win and in turn, snapped their 5 game losing streak. This game featured numerous lead changes before the Hoyas took control late and held on at the line. The Hoyas finished the game 18-24 from the stripe. They were led by Markel Starks 16 points and 4 assists and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera added 12. The Hoyas were rock solid on D all game and forced Sparty into 15 turnovers and also won the boards battle 37-30 -- aided by the absence of Spartman big man Adrien Payne. Georgetown will now look to get a win streak going with a winnable road game at DePaul.

DePaul fell to 10-12 on the season and 2-7 in conference play with a home loss to Providence this past weekend 77-72. Providence got back in the win column with efficient guard play and another huge contest from Bryce Cotton who poured in 28 points against the suspect DePaul backcourt. DePaul was led by RJ Curington’s 22 points off the bench but most other key contributors had off shooting nights. DePaul turned it over 16 times and fouled Providence 22 times -- leading to easy points late. Tommy Hamilton IV was strong in the post for DePaul and finished with 13 and 8.
This game is a toss up as Georgetown is coming off a big win but has been terrible in opposing venues and DePaul has been lost for weeks. I like the Hoyas to keep it going via their momentum from the weekend as Georgetown rides their talented backcourt to a big game, win and the cover to wrap up their road trip.
