Drexel and North Carolina-Wilmington will meet for the second time this season on Monday night in the John A. Daskalakis Center. It won’t be a pretty matchup with the Dragons losing three of their last five and Seahawks losing their last 11. The meeting earlier this season was won by Drexel 79-63.
Uh, where do we start?
Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports
North Carolina-Wilmington is really as bad as it gets. It averages just 65 points per game on offense, has only two players who average double-digit points and isn’t great defensively, allowing 72 points per contest. The Seahawks only shoot 25.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Do I really need to say anymore?
Drexel doesn’t have much room to laugh with an average of 70.8 points per game and a points per allowed average of 70.6. In its last five games, it’s shooting 46.2 percent from the field and allowing opponents to shoot 50.8 percent. It’s a team that really trades baskets and hopes to have the last shot at the end of the game, which is why its last three matchups have been decided by one possession.
I wouldn’t touch this game with a 10-foot pole, but if you must, you have to go with North Carolina-Wilmington. Its SU record isn’t pretty, but it did almost beat Delaware on Saturday and has covered in three of its last five road games.
Also, Drexel is 0-7 against the spread at home.
Take the points and the road team.
