The Line: Furman Paladins 0 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The only Southern matchup on Monday will be a meeting between Samford and Furman. These two squads met just a couple of weeks ago and Samford won 57-55 in a thriller. Overall, the Bulldogs have won three of their last five and the Paladins have lost seven of their last eight.
It’s been tough sledding for Furman all season, as it seems it can’t do anything right on either end of the court. It is averaging just 66.5 points per game and allowing 74.1 points on defense. It is one of the worst rebounding teams in the country at 32.4 and only knocks down 67.7 percent of its free throws. About the only good thing with this team is that it does shoot a high percentage from downtown at 36.1 percent.

Although Samford has been playing better basketball as of late, it really isn’t much better. In fact, it’s one of the worst defensive teams you’ll see all season, as opponents are shooting an average above 47 percent on the season. However, the Bulldogs have been able to counter that with snipe shooters such as Tim and Isaiah Williams, guys who shoot a high percentage from all over the floor. Samford is shooting 46.7 percent from the field.
Furman is 4-10 against the spread this season and Samford is 7-8. However, Samford is 5-0-1 against the spread in its last six road games against teams with a losing home record. The road team is also 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams.
I'll follow the trends in this one and take Samford in a pick em matchup.
