The 15-9 Chattanooga Mocs will travel to Eastern Kentucky to play the 16-7 Colonels. It should be a great matchup considering Chattanooga is the best team in the Southern Conference and Eastern Kentucky is one of the best in the Ohio Valley.
The Mocs have been on a tear over the last month, winning 11 of their last 12 games. They’re averaging nearly 77 points per game and shooting 44.3 percent on the season. Defensively, they allow 73.7 points per game. However, they’ve been in a shooting slump recently, shooting just 42.6 percent from the field and only 28.7 from beyond the arc in their last five contests. They are 10-6-2 against the spread this season and 6-5 on the road.

The Colonels have been equally impressive, winning six of their last seven. They’re one of the best shooting teams in the country at 48.3 percent and average nearly 79 points per game. They also play stingy defense by averaging nine steals and holding teams under 70 points on most nights. Junior guard Corey Walden is coming off one of his better performances in which he scored 20 points and had three steals. The Colonels are 9-8 against the spread and 2-3 at home.
Eastern Kentucky is obviously the better team, but it is allowing opponents to shoot 52.6 percent from the field in its last five games. With the way Chattanooga plays defense and the way it is capable of shooting the basketball, the Mocs should be able to keep this game close. They are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games and have won four of their last five road games SU.
In a battle between two solid teams, I’ll take the points when I can.
