The Minnesota Golden Gophers have lost three of their last four games to slip to 4-5 in the Big 10 and into a tie for fifth place in the conference. Minnesota is 3-5 away from home and they have played the sixth ranked schedule in the country. Andre Hollins leads the Gophers averaging 16.2 points per game. Austin Hollins is averaging 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds, Deandre Mathieu is averaging 11.5 points, and Malik Smith is averaging 10.6 points. Minnesota is averaging 74.5 points and they are shooting 44.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.8 points and their opponents are shooting 42.2 percent. Minnesota’s chances of making the NCAA Tournament seem to be slipping away.
Purdue is 2-5 against the spread following a loss, 0-6 against the spread in their last six home games, and 9-4 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. Minnesota is 4-11-1 against the spread in their last 16 games, 3-9 against the spread against the Big Ten, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games. The underdog has covered the point spread in six of the last seven meetings of these two.
Neither of these teams has looked good of late but my play here is with Minnesota who is the better of these two teams.
