Richmond hopes that it can snap a two-game losing streak with St. Bonaventure coming to town Wednesday night. The Bonnies haven been playing fairly well with wins in two of their last three games.
In fact, the Bonnies are probably the most underrated team in the Atlantic 10. While their 13-8 record isn’t great, they have played some of the leagues best very close this season. They lost to Saint Louis by six, UMass by five and lost to Duquesne on the last shot of the game. These close games have given the Bonnies a solid 12-7 against the spread record this season. As a team, they’re averaging 74.8 points per game and holding opponents to under 43 percent shooting.
Richmond has lost back-to-back road games to Saint Louis and VCU. The Spiders are also no strangers to close games with three of their last four wins being decided by single digits. The problem with Richmond is it isn’t getting much scoring help besides Cedrick Lindsay and Kendall Anthony. Those are the only two players averaging double-digit points and in the game against VCU, they scored 52 of the team’s 70 points. In the Spiders last five games, they’re being held to just 40.1 percent shooting and 67 points.
With the way both teams have a knack for playing games down to the wire, it’s best to go with St. Bonaventure and the points. Richmond is 3-6-1 against the spread at home and 8-12-1 ATS on the season.
The Bonnies are a tough team that won’t go away easily and have hung in there on the road against better teams than Richmond.
Take St. Bonaventure and run.
