Fifth Third Arena and the #7 Cincinnati Bearcats tangle with the Connecticut Huskies on Thursday.
Despite an 0-2 start to kickoff the conference schedule, Connecticut is just a win behind second place. The Huskies balance between their offense and defense has been front and center during a three game hot streak that was capped off in an 80-43 decision over visiting Houston who had won the first meeting. UConn exploded to a 29 point first half lead with 43% shooting outdistancing the Cougars 27% effort. Leading scorer Shabazz Napier tossed in 19 points and grabbed seven boards with Ryan Boatright adding 15 followed by Niels Giffey and Philip Nolan with ten points apiece and a combined 13 rebounds.

The beat goes on for Cincinnati who own a 10-0 conference mark after going to the KFC Yum! Center and knocking off Louisville 69-66. The defense first Bearcats get plenty of scoring but the number four defense that is allowing less then 57 points is front page news. This unit once again stole the show in a 50-45 decision over South Florida on Sunday with the Bulls held to 38.8% from the field . Cincy connected at 33% but more threes and free throws carried the day. Sean Kilpatrick continued to score the basketball with a contest best 18 points despite 5-18 shooting with Justin Jackson next in line with 15 points and six yanks followed by Ge'Lawn Guyn with eight.
Interesting line although not surprising given how the Bearcats have been playing. I'm going to look further in to this but for now I'll take the points but Daniels has to play...
