The Belmont Bruins look to solidify their grip atop the OVC with a win over the Austin Peay Governors.
The offensively minded Governors have enjoyed some big scoring games but unfortunately for them so have their opponents which is reflected in their record. This offense has to put up some numbers going forward and hope the defense steps up to improve their position with the playoffs not too far away. Both ends of the floor did enough to saddle Tennessee State with a 75-65 set back with an 18 point first half lead setting the tone behind 55%shooting. The Governors received 21 and 20 point efforts from Travis Betran and Ed Dyson with Will Triggs netting 12 points. The starting five accounted for all but ten points in a 6-7 man rotation.

Belmont is not ready to reliquish their grip on the top spot of the Ohio Valley and proved it with a 96-93 shootout victory over Murray State. The Bruins big time offense was at it's best once again with 56% markmanship barely enough with the Racers hitting at nearly 48% and totaling eight more looks that combined with a 12-26 mark from down town to keep this close. Murray State rallied from a few double figure deficits as the Bruins defense struggled to get stops in stretches. Blake Jenkins and JJ Mann led the scoring spree with 25 points each with Mann posting nine boards followd by a 22 point, six assist effort from Craig Bradshaw while Drew Windler added 12 points and ten boards.
Belmont has tremendous potential at the offensive end but do give up points as well and the only thing the Governors can do is score. The Bruins could win this going away but I'm leary of their defense so I'd say take the points if you have the nerve to bet this...
