The Furman Paladins go out on the road to face a surging Davidson club at Belk Arena in SoCon action.
Furman probably isn't getting a ton of respect in the basketball world but the members of the SoCon better because overlooking a team will result in a loss. Going by the numbers the Paladins need a boost at both ends of the floor. There hasn't been that 'boost' lately with the team suffering through nine straight defeats after dropping 76-68 decision to visiting Samford. There wasn't a glaring difference in each category of the boxscore but the Bulldogs sank a few more buckets and free throws which added up. Stephen Croone led Furman with a game high 26 points with Larry Wideman and Charlie Riddick posting 16 and ten points with Riddick grabbing seven boards.

People that were wondering if the real Davidson would emerge are probably not wondering any longer. The streaking Wildcats moved in to a first place tie with Chattanooga in the SoCon at 9-1 with a resounding 109-88 track meet victory at Samford. A 61 point set the stage behind 65% markmanship that included a remarkable 16-22 from beyond the arc. Even hefty 58% from the field was not going to get it done for the Bulldogs. De'Mon Brooks and Brian Sullivan were an unstoppable force with 28 and 25 points respectively with Tyler Kalinoski tossed in 19 points and handed out seven helpers. Tom Droney netted 18 points and posted ten rebounds while Jordan Barham came off the bench to chip in with ten points.
Who is playing the best basketball in the SoCon? Any answer but Davidson and you are not watching closely. I keep saying this looks like the Wildcats of the past several years and if they continue to do well it's Davidson or nothing...
