Storyline: 16th-ranked Iowa State looks to continue climbing up the Big 12 standings when they host lowly TCU Saturday.
The Breakdown: The Cyclones improved to 5-4 for 5th place in the conference after escaping with a 98-97 victory over #19 Oklahoma State in a triple overtime thriller Monday. Iowa State connected on 34 of 78 from the floor and 10 of 33 from outside the arc to the Cowboys’ 34 of 70 from the field and 4 of 15 from downtown. The Cyclones finished with a 47-42 rebounding edge and hit 20 of 28 from the free throw line. TCU, meanwhile, sits in last place in the conference at 0-9, losing narrowly to Texas 59-54 Tuesday. Junior F Amric Fields scored a team-high 16 points and 8 rebounds, junior G Kyan Anderson had 12 points and 7 assists, and freshman F Brandon Parrish added 10 points. Through 21 games, TCU is averaging 65.0 ppg on 41.1 percent shooting. Anderson leads the team with 15.1 ppg, followed by Fields 13.6 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -20.5 for Iowa State. TCU is still winless in the Big 12, but they’ve been getting close. Maybe not to a victory, but getting closer in terms of not getting blown out of the water by everyone, losing their last two by a combined 11 points. That’s an accomplishment for the Frogs. Look for a closer game than the line.
