The Southern Utah Thunderbirds make the trip to the Walkup Skydome to face the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
Southern Utah obviously won't be a factor in the Big Sky directly but they could throw a Monkey Wrench in to the plans of others which isn't impossible given their improved play of late. We know the Thunderbirds have one win but with six losses in a row decided by eight points or less says they have been competitive. SUU let one get away in a 54-52 loss to visiting Montana State Saturday as a four point lead at the half went by the wayside. The offense hit at 45.5% but 20 giveaways gave the 35.8% shooting Bobcats nine more looks to squeeze out the win. AJ Hess led the attack with 14 points with Casey Oliverson and Race Parsons adding eight points each.

Northern Arizona saw a chance at taking over third in the Big Sky go by the wayside in Thursday night's 87-70 loss at Sacramento State. That kept the Lumberjacks in a downward as losers in four of five for a four way tie for third in the conference. NAU shot the ball well enough at 53.5% but 20 giveaways negated great shooting. On the flip side Sacramento sank shots at a 59% clip to out gun the visitors who trailed by seven at the half and were playing catch up throughout. Aaseem Dixon led three DD scorers with 14 points with Gaellan Bewernick and Quinton Upshur tossing in 13 and 12 points while three others tacked on 8-9 points.
Southern Utah was completely dominated on their own floor by Northern Arizona and it could easily happen again. The Thunderbirds are playing their best basketball so the question is can they cover (I didn't say win)...
