The McLeod Center will be in a frenzy when the #4 Wichita State Shockers face the Northern Iowa Panthers.
Not much can be said about Wichita State that hasn't already been said but I'll give my two cents. The Shockers easily have the best combination of scoring and defense in the Missouri Valley and almost everywhere else. This team can run and gun or play it slow in the half court and do both well which Indiana State found out in 65-58 loss to the conference front runner. The Shocker didn't do anything great offensively with 41% shooting and a 19-30 effort at the line so the defense stepped up and limited the Sycamores to just 32% from the floor. Cleanthony Early tossed in a game high 19 points and snared five pulls with Tekele Cotton netting 14 points while Chadrack Lufile and Ron Baker added eight points each.

If Northern Iowa is going to make a move and secure for themselves a spot in the top four of the Missouri Valley, now is the time to make their move before time runs out on them. The Panthers have lost opportunities to solidify their spot in the standings with defeats in four of five with the defense struggling in each. A 76-65 loss at Illinois State featured 46% marksmanship from UNI but also 16 giveaways which gave the 44% shooting Redbirds more shots and a few more baskets to combine with eight more free throws for a solid win. Matt Bohannon scored 19 points followed by a 15 point, ten rebound night from Seth Tuttle while Deon Mitchell and Jeremy Morgan tossed in 13 and ten points.
This is one of a few potential pitfalls for Wichita State with the end of the season creeping closer. I don't know if it's wise to go against the Shockers and I think it can be a guess when going against them so right or wrong...
