The North Carolina Tar Heels travel to Notre Dame to play the Fighting Irish on Saturday.
North Carolina improved to 15-7, 5-4 ACC after beating Maryland at home 75-63 on Tuesday night. On the year, Marcus Paige leads the Tar Heels with 17.1 points per game and a team-high 4.5 assists per game. James Michael-McAdoo is averaging 14.8 points per game and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. The Tar Heels are averaging an impressive 75.9 points per game while shooting 45.6% from the field as a team this season. North Carolina ranks 9th in the country in rebounding, averaging 41.3 boards per game. The Tar Heels are also good at distributing the ball, averaging 15.9 assists per contest. Paige is the point guard and floor general for a Tar Heel squad that struggled to find itself in the first few months of the year. North Carolina is now playing with more energy and seems to have hit their stride at the right time, winning four straight games in conference play. The Tar Heels will head out on the road where they are 2-4 on the year.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish dropped 12-11, 3-7 ACC after losing at Syracuse 61-55 on Monday night. On the year, Garrick Sherman leads the Fighting Irish with a team-high 14.5 points and 8 rebounds per game. Eric Atkins is averaging 14 points per game and a team-high 4.8 assists per contest. Pat Connaughton is averaging 13.3 points per game and 7.4 boards. The Irish are averaging a solid 74.4 points per game while shooting 45.9% from the field. Notre Dame is not a great rebounding team as they lack some size in the front court. The Irish are one of the better teams when it comes to distributing the basketball, averaging 15.7 assists per game. Notre Dame has lost four of their last five games and will try to get back on track at home on Saturday. The Irish are 3-2 at home in conference play this season.
North Carolina is playing some great basketball right now and they may sneak up on some of the higher ranked teams in the ACC by the end of the year. Notre Dame has been struggling ever since they beat Duke at home in early January. North Carolina hasn’t played great on the road but I think they will get a win at Notre Dame on Saturday.
