The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Purdue Boilermakers face off on Saturday in Big Ten college basketball.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have won three of their last four games and appear to have regained their footing after a stretch where they lost five of six games. OSU is 5-5 in the big 10, 13-2 at home this season, and they have played the 10th ranked schedule in the nation. LaQuinton Ross leads the Buckeyes averaging 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Lenzelle Smith Jr. is averaging 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds, Amir Williams is averaging 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds, and Shannon Scott is averaging 7.7 points. Ohio State is averaging 72.1 points and they are shooting 45.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 59.3 points and their opponents are shooting 40 percent. Ohio State is looking to get back into the national rankings.

The Purdue Boilermakers are coming off of a win in their last game that ended a four game losing streak. Purdue is 3-7 away from home and 4-6 in the Big Ten this season. Terone Johnson is averaging 12.6 points to lead the Boilermakers. A.J. Hammons is averaging 10.9 point and 7.4 rebounds, Ronnie Johnson is averaging 10.7 points, and Kendall Stephens is averaging 7.3 points. Purdue is averaging 73.8 points and they are shooting 42.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 70.4 points and their opponents are shooting 41.5 percent. Purdue is tied for eighth place in the conference standings.
Ohio State is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games, 5-1 against the spread following a win, and 9-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Purdue is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record, and 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 Saturday games. The favorite has covered the point spread in five of the last six meetings of these two.
Purdue hasn’t looked good of late but I look for them to at least get the cover here.
