The Virginia Tech Hokies travel to Pittsburgh to play the Panthers on Saturday.
Virginia Tech dropped to 8-14, 1-9 ACC after losing at Florida State 70-50 on Saturday. On the season, Jarell Eddie leads the Hokies with 13.9 points per game and a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game. Ben Emelogu is averaging a second-best 11.4 points per game, while Devin Wilson is averaging 8.9 points per game and a team-high 4.4 assists. The Hokies are averaging a mediocre 66.8 points per game while shooting an awful 41.5% from the field. Virginia Tech is actually a good rebounding team, averaging 37.9 points per game, but a lot of that has to do with the amount of shots the Hokies miss in the first place. The Hokies are not a good offensive team and they don’t do a good job of distributing the basketball, averaging only 11.4 assists per game as a team this season. Virginia Tech has lost nine games in a row, all in conference play. The Hokies will head out on the road for their second straight game; Virginia Tech is 1-4 on the road this season.

The Pittsburgh Panthers improved to 19-4, 7-3 ACC after beating Miami on the road 59-55 on Wednesday night. Lamar Patterson leads the way for the Panthers, averaging a team-high 17.7 points and 4.4 assists per game this season. Patterson is one of the best players in the ACC, if not the whole country. Talib Zanna is averaging 12.8 points per game and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game. Freshman Michael Young is chipping in with 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Young is also a great defender for Pittsburgh, who has held several opponents to under 50 points this season. The Panthers are averaging 73.7 points per game while shooting an outstanding 47.2% from the field this season. Pittsburgh is one of the better rebounding teams in the ACC and they are ranked 20th in assists per game as a team this season, averaging 16.1 per game. Pittsburgh bounced back with a win at Miami after losing two straight games to Duke and Virginia. The Panthers will look to make it two straight wins when they play at home on Saturday.
Virginia Tech is one of the worst basketball teams in the country, not just the ACC. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh hit a rough two game stretch but they will bounce back in a big way at home this weekend. Virginia Tech doesn’t stand a chance against Pittsburgh and this game will be over before it even starts. Pittsburgh wins big and covers the spread.
