The Line: Arkansas State Red Wolves -3.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
There will be a fairly solid Sun Belt college hops matchup on Monday when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers play the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The Hilltoppers have won six games in a row and the Red Wolves have won two of their last three.
Western Kentucky is playing its best basketball of the season as of late, shooting 46.3 percent and averaging 74.4 points during its winning streak. Those are big improvements over the 41.8 percent shooting and 69.4 points the offense averages on the season. Defensively it allows 66.8 points per game on the season, but has held teams under that total twice in its last five games. The Hilltoppers are 9-11-1 against the spread this season and 6-4 ATS on the road.

The Red Wolves haven’t played in over a week due to a Tuesday matchup against Lyon being postponed. They average 77.2 points per game on 45.1 percent shooting and have two skillful offensive players in Kirk Van Slyke and Melvin Johnson. Both shoot above 42 percent from beyond the arc and 46 percent from the field. Defensively they allow 73.1 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting. The Red Wolves are 8-7-1 ATS and 3-3 ATS at home.
Western Kentucky has won five straight road games and is 4-1 ATS in those meetings. Meanwhile, Arkansas State is just 2-2 ATS in its last four home games and just 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games played on Monday.
In the meeting just a couple of weeks ago, the Hilltoppers knocked down nine threes in a 82-77 victory. They have more than offensive firepower to blow the Red Wolves out of the gym if they aren’t careful.
I’ll take the hotter team in Western Kentucky, especially with the fact we're getting points.
