The Villanova Wildcats visit the DePaul Blue Demons at Wednesday night 8PM on Fox Sports One.
The Wildcats continue to be the class of the big east so far this season -- they have moved up to 6th in the national top 25 and currently sport a 9-1 conference record and are 21-2 overall. The Wildcats made easy work of Seton Hall this past week as they ran away from the Pirates 70-53. Villanova got little contribution from their bench but that did not matter as four starters scored in double figures with James Bell’s 20 points leading the way. Daniel Ochefu added 10 and 10 down low and Jayvaughn Pinkston scored 19 for the Wildcats as well. The Wildcats now rank 10th in the nation in assists with 16.5 per game and 24th in scoring with an average of 80.4 points per game.

DePaul fell to 2-9 in conference play this past weekend with a loss versus Creighton 78-66. The Blue Demons trailed by 9 at the break and did little to make up ground in the second half as the Bluejays coasted for the win. Brandon Young led the way with 16 and 7 for DePaul. Young will need to become quite consistent with the recent development of top scorer Cleveland Melvin leaving the program. The Blue Demons now find themselves losers of 6 straight games and things do not get easier with Villanova, followed by contests against Providence, Xavier and Marquette. The Blue Demons are about as close as a team can get to throwing in the towel at this point.
This is an easy play as the Wildcats are one of the best teams in the country and DePaul is falling apart at the seams quickly. I like the Blue Demons to hang in this one for about 10 minutes before Villanova’s big guards take control and the Wildcats run away with the easy cover and win in the windy city Wednesday night.
