The Line: Northern Iowa Panthers -11 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Loyola of Chicago Ramblers will take on the Northern Iowa Panthers on Wednesday night. These teams played one another earlier in the year and the Ramblers won in overtime 93-87.
Since then the Ramblers have lost three of their last four games due to an offense that isn’t putting points on the board. Although they’re shooting 46.4 percent from the field in their last five games, they’re only scoring 69.4 points. The slow-tempo offense really hurts them when they need to find points in a hurry. Defensively, they’re allowing 67.3 points on 43.6 percent shooting on the season. They are 9-12-1 ATS and 4-7-1 ATS on the road.

The Panthers haven’t been much better since their last meeting against the Ramblers. However, their problem has been defense. In their last five games, teams are shooting above 50 percent and averaging 83.8 points. Sure, they average a cool 74 points per game on the season, but they’ve also lost three games this year when topping the 80-point mark. The lack of defense is the reason why the Panthers are struggling in the Missouri Valley Conference. They are 9-13 ATS and 5-3 ATS at home.
I really don’t like laying heavy chalk when two teams are really playing poor basketball. But the Ramblers are 0-10 SU on the road this season, while Northern Iowa is 8-2 SU at home. The Panthers are also 4-0 ATS in their last four home games against teams with a losing road record.
I’m also not sure the Ramblers have enough offense to keep up with the Panthers once the shots start falling.
I’m not crazy about this pick, but it’s the only option when you have a team that has been absolutely horrendous on the road this season.
