The UTEP Miners will search for their ninth straight win when the Florida Atlantic Owls stop by for a visit.
The Owls have only won two of their last five games, but are coming off a confidence boost with a win over the UAB Blazers. In that win they scored 82 points and held UAB to 37.7 percent shooting. Scoring has not been the Owls strength, as they average just 67.6 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting. Before that game against UAB, they went six games without scoring at least 70 points. Defensively, they allow 70 points on 42.9 percent shooting. They are 11-8 against the spread on the year and 6-6 ATS on the road.

The Miners still can’t do anything wrong in the eyes of gamblers everywhere. Not only is their SU record nice, but they’re a ridiculous 14-4 ATS and 6-3 ATS at home. In their last five games they’re averaging 71.8 points and holding their opponents to just 58.8 points. At home they shoot 46.1 percent from the field and allow just 39.9 percent shooting. Needless to say, this team has been money all season long.
FAU has surprised us before with wins over Harvard and a close contest against Boston College, but it isn’t nearly as consistent as you would like. Despite their winning ATS record, we’ve seen a lot more bad from the Owls than good. Meanwhile, the Miners simply refuse to let us down with cover after cover.
UTEP is 21-5-1 ATS in its last 27 games overall and 6-1 ATS in its last seven games following a SU win.
I’ll take trends like that every day of the week, even if it means to lay the big number.
Until the Miners stop cashing, I’ll gladly keep riding this money train.
