The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will put their seven-game winning streak on the line when they go on the road to play the UAB Blazers. The Blazers have lost three straight.
Southern Miss has really been on a tear at both ends of the floor all season, averaging 71.1 points per game and allowing just 62 points. In just their last five games they’re shooting 47.3 percent from the field and allowing just 39.8 percent against opponents. However, the Golden Eagles average only 67.1 points and allow 64.2 points on the road. They are 14-6-1 ATS this season and 7-5-1 ATS on the road.

The Blazers have seen better days with losses in five of their last seven games. During that stretch they’re shooting 27.5 percent from downtown and averaging 71.2 points, while the defense allows 72.6 points on 41.9 percent shooting from the field. It’s the defense that continues to keep the Blazers in games. In fact, they hold teams to just 38.1 percent shooting on their home court. Although the Blazers lost their last game against Florida Atlantic, it was one of the few games where they had four starters score in the double figures. The Blazers are 8-11 ATS and 3-6 ATS at home.
Although Southern Miss has the better record and has won the last three meetings against UAB SU, the Blazers have played extremely well at home defensively and have hung around with some of the best C-USA teams on their home floor. They only lost to UTEP by two points and even beat North Carolina earlier in the season.
The Blazers are also 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games against teams with a winning road record, while the home team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings between these two teams.
Call me crazy, but I like UAB and the points in this one.
