Wisconsin Badgers vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers Pick, Odds, Prediction 2/13/14

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming off of a home win against Indiana that ended a three game losing skid. Minnesota is 5-6 in the Big Ten, 3-6 away from home, and 0-4 against teams ranked in the top 25. Andre Hollins leads the Gophers averaging 14.8 points per game. Austin Hollins is averaging 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds, Deandre Mathieu is averaging 11.8 points, and Malik Smith is averaging 10 points. Minnesota is averaging 74.2 points and they are shooting 44.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.9 points and their opponents are shooting 42.2 percent. Minnesota is hoping to make a late season run at the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games2-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games. Minnesota is 6-14-1 against the spread against the Big Ten, 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, and 1-6-1 against the spread following a win. Minnesota has covered the point spread in four of their last five trips to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin seems to have figured out how to win again but I still don’t see that making them a likely candidate to cover the spread.
