The Arizona Wildcats will go on the road to play the rival Arizona State Sun Devils at the Wells Fargo Arena. These teams played a few weeks ago and the Wildcats gave the Sun Devils a 91-68 beat down.
Since then the Wildcats have won five of their last six games, but they’ve also lost a key piece in Brandon Ashley for the season. Since the forward went down with a foot injury, the Wildcats were upset by California and had a major scare against Oregon. In their last five games they’re shooting just 39.6 percent from the field and scoring 65.2 points. Defensively they’re allowing 58.4 points on 40.9 percent shooting. They are 14-9 ATS this season and 5-3 ATS on the road.

The Sun Devils have won five of their last six since the meeting against Arizona. During that time they’re averaging 78.2 points and allowing 71.8 points. Center Jordan Bachynski has become more of an offensive player as of late, scoring 26 points in the win over Oregon. Defensively the Sun Devils allow 67.7 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting. They are 11-11 ATS and 6-6 ATS on their home court.
It’s no secret the Wildcats are the better team, and they’ve won six of the last seven meetings against the Sun Devils. However, they’ve been quite shaky ever since Ashley went down with an injury. This wasn’t a deep team to begin with and there’s a lot more pressure on other guys to make plays.
This is a true rivalry and Arizona State could use a marquee win to strengthen its NCAA resume. The crowd will be into the game and you’re going to get the best effort from the Sun Devils.
The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams and the Sun Devils are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games played on Friday.
Don’t be surprised if there’s an upset here, but take the points just to be on the safe side. The number will likely climb even higher, so be patient.
