Junior G Antoine Mason had a game-high 33 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, sophomore G Tahjere McCall scored 16 points and dished out 7 assists, and freshman G Wesley Myers added 9 points. Meanwhile, Canisius has lost its last two, dropping to 10-4 for second place in the conference following a 101-91 home defeat to Iona Sunday. The Golden Griffins essentially matched a strong shooting day from the Gaels, connecting on 47.1 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from outside the arc to Iona’s 47.0 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from distance. Senior G Chris Perez scored a team-high 25 points, senior G Billy Baron had 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, and junior F Jordan Heath added 16 points and 9 boards. Through 25 games, Canisius is averaging 77.7 ppg on 45.8 percent shooting. Baron leads the team with23.6 ppg, followed by Perez at 11.7 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this matchup is currently set at -4.5 for Canisius. These two hooked up a couple weeks ago and the Golden Griffins scored a decisive 13 point victory. Both are skidding right now, but Canisius has averaged 83.5 ppg in its last four, while Niagra is averaging 73 and nobody besides Mason seems to be scoring. Look for Canisius to cover.
