The Marshall Thundering Herd and Charlotte 49ers are both looking to snap losing streaks when they meet Saturday night in a C-USA matchup.
The Thundering Herd have lost four of their last five games and three straight. During that stretch, they’re shooting 46.2 percent and averaging 67.2 points, but they’re allowing 71.8 points on 49.6 percent shooting. The lack of defense has been a constant problem for them, as they allow 74.3 points per game on the season. They are also a lousy 1-11 SU on the road. The Thundering Herd are 7-12 ATS and 4-7 ATS on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
The 49ers have lost two in a row and four of their last six. During their stretch they’re scoring 66.2 points on 41.9 percent shooting, while allowing 66 points on 42.3 percent shooting. Very similar numbers, which is why two of those games were lost by one bucket. At home, they score 76.6 points and allow 69.7 points. They have won five straight home games and are 4-3 ATS at home. Overall, they are 10-9 ATS.
If the Thundering Herd weren’t so terrible on the road, you could actually make a case to take them and the points. However, 1-11 away from home shouldn’t sit well with you. The 49ers drastically improve their level of play on their home court and are 9-2 SU at home.
Also, Marshall’s TyQuane Goard is questionable with a shoulder injury.
Go ahead and take Charlotte and the chalk.
