The Toledo Rockets hope to hold on to the top spot in the MAC when they t the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
The offense first Rockets look to outscore opponents rather then stop them and thus far that strategy has worked out fine with an 11-2 conference mark and first in the MAC. The Rockets avenged their loss to Ohio by outlasting the Bobcats 82-76 on Wednesday. This one was as tight as the first meeting that went to overtime with the visitors staying alive with nearly 46% shooting and an 11-28 performance from beyond the arc. Toledo squeezed out the win with 48% from the field and an 18-11 edge at the line. Rian Pearson exploded for a game high 29 points and six pulls with Julius Brown netting 17 followed by the duo of Nathan Boothe and Jonathan Boothe with 12 points each.

I don't know what the future holds for Eastern Michigan but from what I have seen thus far the Eagles have an improved look. EMU hasn't been a big offense in the past and aren't now although 67 points per game is better then what we've seen and the 62 points allowed is outstanding. Both ends of the floor played a role in their 73-62 defeat of Ball State on the road Wednesday as EMU took a six point lead at the half and controlled the Cardinals thereafter in most areas. The defense limited Ball to 40% shooting and forced 19 turnovers but the Eagles nearly 46% accuracy and 17 more free throws was a winning combination. Ray Lee was the big gun for EMU with 24 points followed by Mike Talley and his 13 points while Daylen Harrison chipped in with ten points.
I can almost guarantee the world will be on Toledo which is scary to back the Rockets. Nothing is a sure thing in the MAC so take this for what it's worth...
