The Florida International Panthers will play their second straight road game when they pay a visit to Texas-El Paso to play the Miners.
The Panthers have lost three of their last five games and it has a lot to do with the defense that is letting them down. They’ve been a consistent defensive team all season, allowing 71.7 points on 43.6 percent shooting. But in their last five games, teams are scoring 73.6 points and shooting 46.3 percent. Offensively, they’ve averaged 71 points and are shooting 46 percent from the field in their last five. They are 9-8 ATS and 4-6 ATS on the road.

The Miners just had their eight-game winning streak snapped by Florida Atlantic. They let the Owls shoot 52 percent from the field and knock down a last-second three to win the game. If you’re able to remove that game from your brain, you’ll see that they’re still shooting 49.2 percent from the field and holding teams to 38.6 percent shooting in their last five games. At home, they average 73.1 points and hold their opponents to 66.5 points. They’re also 14-5 ATS and 6-4 ATS on their home court.
This seems like a good spot to back the Miners. They’re going to be fired up after losing to a team they shouldn’t have lost to, and the Panthers aren’t playing the solid defense that has kept them in many games all season.
The Miners are 5-0 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and are 11-1-1 in their last 13 games following a SU loss.
Considering the way they’ve covered the spread all season, you’d be a fool to hop off this loot train anytime soon.
