The struggling Hofstra Pride will go on the road and play the streaky Drexel Dragons. These teams met back in mid-January and Drexel won an entertaining 77-74 matchup.
The Pride have lost six of their last seven games and many of them weren’t even close. In their last five games they’re averaging 62 points on 37.1 percent shooting, while the defense allows 67.2 points on 46.4 percent shooting. The lack of scoring has been their issue all season, as they score just 66.7 points and shoot 41.4 percent from the field. They’ve failed to score at least 60 points in four of their last six losses. They are 12-7-2 ATS this season and 8-4-1 ATS on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
The Dragons have won three of their last five games, but are coming off a 47-46 loss to Charleston. In that game they were 0-9 from downtown and shot just 32.1 percent from the field. While scoring has also been their problem for much of the year, they are averaging 71.4 points and shoot 43.2 percent on their home court. Defensively, they allow 68.3 points on 45.5 percent shooting. They are 11-11-1 ATS overall and 1-7-1 ATS at home.
Not sure why the spread is this large considering these two teams played each other a few weeks ago and it came down to the wire. Also, Drexel is only 6-4 SU on its home floor and is 7-19-1 ATS in its last 27 home games.
Sure, Hofstra is 1-11 SU away from home, but we’re not asking the team to win this game, just keep it within 10 or so. The Pride have been solid against the number on the road and have covered 11 of their last 15 conference games.
I’ll gladly take a double-digit cushion.
