The Kent State Golden Flashes visit the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks in a battle to climb out of seventh.
Kent State has been a fixture at the top of the MAC for several years but the 2013-14 campaign has been different with a fall to seventh with several weeks left in the regular season. There is no time to challenge for the top spot although moving up the standings is doable. The Golden Flashes took a step in the right direction with an 83-73 victory over visiting Central Michigan with Kent playing in front throughout and never letting the Chippewas get momentum for a comeback. Over 63% shooting did the damage with five double digit scorers leading the way. Chris Ortiz and Kellon Thomas led the attack with 17 points each with Kris Brewer adding 14 while Derek Jackson and Mark Henniger netted 13 and ten points.

My feeling on Miami (Ohio) is they can be a very competitive team that is capable of winning anywhere in the MAC. The reality is the Redhawks aren't winning enough and that is why they are stuck in a seventh place tie. Scoring can and has been an issue at times and the defense has also shared in the struggles with neither coming up big in a 68-57 defeat at Western Michigan on Saturday. The Redhawks scored 23 first half points and hit at 37.5% from the floor while giving the ball away 18 times while the Broncos secured the win with a 28-9 advantage at the line. Will Felder and Geovonie McKnight paced the scoring with 12 points each with Will Sullivan and Jaryd Eutace combined for 17 points.
I really don't have an angle that dramatically favors either squad because in truth I like both as dogs in general. I'll just side with the points and hope for a little more...
