Meanwhile, Long Beach State sits in a tie with Hawaii for third place in the conference, improving to 7-4 after a 74-65 victory over Cal Poly Saturday. The 49ers connected on 53.8 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from outside the arc to the Mustangs’ 35.0 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from distance. On the season, the 49ers are averaging 68.7 ppg on 42.2 percent shooting. Caffey leads the team with 16.5 ppg, followed by Lamb at 15.6 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this matchup is currently set at -6.5 for Long Beach State. It’s surprising this number isn’t a little higher, considering the 49ers hammered UC Davis by 25 points on the road when these two faced off a little over a month ago. Long Beach pretty much had their way, shooting over 50 percent from the floor and from downtown, while also snagging 25 more rebounds. Look for the 49ers to cover.
