The Oakland Golden Grizzlies go on the road to faceoff with the Illinois-Chicago Flames on Friday night.
Oakland sits at 5-8 in the Horizon thanks to losses in four of five but if the team can sweep their final three games they have a realistic chance of moving up several spots for the conference playoffs. The Golden Grizzlies had a great chance to move up the rankings versus Wright State last time out but came up short 72-71 despite leading virtually the entire game. This game was a mixed bag for both teams with the Raiders sinkin half their looks but also giving the ball away 19 times to give the 39% shooting Golden Grizzlies plenty of chances. Duke Mondy paced the attack with 20 points with Ralph Hill and Kahlil Felder tossing in 15 and 14 points.

There is no doubt where Illinois-Chicago will finish in the Horizon with last place being a foregone conclusion with the Flames still without a win in conference play. UIC certainly had their opportunities against visiting Detroit on Tuesday before eventually falling 65-59. UIC fell victim to a 13-2 Titans run to open the second half and that was just too much to deal with. UDM held a slight 40.8%-36% shooting edge which added up to a few more baskets and the win. Kelsey Barlow was high scorer with 17 points and six helpers followed by Jordan Harks with 13 points and seven boards while Marc Brown and Pat Birt added eleven and seven points.
Illinois-Chicago plays well at times but not for a full 40 minutes which is why they can't win. Oakland is a winnable game at home but I suppose they'll find a way to mess this up too...
