Marquette travels to the windy city to face the DePaul Blue Demons Saturday at 2PM on CBS Sports Network.
The Golden Eagles ran into the buzzsaw that is the Creighton Bluejays this past week as they were defeated at home by a score of 85-70. Marquette not only rarely loses at home, but they certainly don’t often lose by double digits. The Golden Eagles were unable to match Creighton’s offensive output. Todd Mayo led scorers with 13 points off the bench and no other Marquette player managed more than 10 points. The Golden Eagles yielded 62% shooting for Creighton and the Bluejays knocked down 12 three’s as well. Marquette needs this win at DePaul to keep pace in the conference race.

DePaul’s horrible season continues to unravel and that was more than apparent again this past week as were dominated at Xavier 83-64. The loss drops DePaul to 10-17 overall and 2-12 in conference play. Billy Garrett Jr. led the way with 17 points for the Blue Demons and Forrest Robinson added 14 off the bench but DePaul shot below 40% from the floor and from deep and were outrebounded. In addition, the Xavier offense did as they pleased, racking up a whopping 23 team assists to 13 turnovers. If Xavier was better at the charity stripe, they would have won this contest by 30+.
DePaul is done at this point and are a very strong team to bet against game to game. That case is no different here. Given the off night from some of their key contributors against Creighton, I like the Golden Eagles to get a strong offensive showing and a bit game from Jamil Wilson as they cruise in Chi-town with the easy cover and win.
