The Syracuse Orange travel to Duke to play the Blue Devils on Saturday night.
The Syracuse Orange dropped their first game to go to 25-1, 12-1 ACC after losing at home to Boston College 62-59 on Wednesday night. On the season, C.J. Fair leads the Orange with 16.6 points per game while also averaging 6 rebounds per contest. Trevor Cooney is averaging a second-best 13.3 points per game, while Tyler Ennis is averaging 11.8 points per game and a team-high 5.7 assists per game. The Orange are shooting 44.8% from the field while averaging 69.6 points per game as a team this season. Syracuse is a decent rebounding team, averaging 35.1 boards per game. Syracuse had won three of their last five games by 2-points or less and it was only a matter of time until one of the close games didn’t end in their favor. Syracuse will try to bounce back on the road where they are 6-0 this season.

The Duke Blue Devils dropped to 21-6, 10-4 ACC after losing at North Carolina 74-66 on Thursday night. On the season, Jabari Parker leads the Blue Devils with 19.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Rodney Hood is averaging a solid 16.5 points per game, while Quinn Cook is averaging a team-high 5.2 assists per game. Amile Jefferson is averaging 7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and has really helped Duke improve their rebounding numbers as the year has gone on. The Blue Devils are averaging an impressive 82.2 points per game while shooting 47.5% from the field as a team this season. Duke’s biggest weakness early on was the lack of size in the front court and their inability to rebound the basketball. What was once their weakness has become somewhat of a strength recently as they have outrebounded several of their conference opponents. The Blue Devils will be back at home where they haven’t lost all year.
Both of these teams are coming off losses, which makes this game even more intriguing. How will Syracuse bounce back after their first loss of the year? How will Duke bounce back after a loss to their biggest rival and how much energy will they have playing their fourth game in a week? Syracuse hasn’t played great over the past few weeks despite winning all but one game. Duke has been playing well as of late and I think they have the right formula to beat this Syracuse team. The Blue Devils win at home, but Syracuse keeps it close.
