The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders search for their ninth straight win when they take on the Marshall Thundering Herd.
The Blue Raiders are in the middle of a three-game road trip and are coming off a 71-49 Thursday victory over Charlotte. It seems like nothing has fazed this team over the last couple of weeks, as they’re shooting 42.3 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 72 points in their last five games. Defensively, they’re allowing just 57.6 points on 42.2 percent shooting. They haven’t allowed more than 68 points in their last nine contests. They are 12-11 ATS overall and 4-8 ATS on the road.

The Thundering Herd also played Thursday, but they lost 68-62 to UAB. It was their fourth loss in their last five games. During that stretch, they’re averaging 60 points on 41.1 percent shooting and allowing 63.4 points on 42.9 percent shooting. Keep in mind, their offensive production is about a 15-point difference from their season average. At home they average 72.2 points and allow 70.6 points. They are 8-13 ATS overall and 3-6 ATS on their home court.
It’s no secret Middle Tennessee is ready to make a strong run in the conference tournament and is a dark horse NCAA Tournament team. Marshall, well, not so much.
But the Thundering Herd do give themselves a chance to keep the game close at home as their offense tends to wake up. Sure, they’ve lost four of their last five home games SU, but the last two were decided by single digits.
Marshall Is 4-0 ATS in its last four games following an ATS loss and Middle Tennessee is 1-5 ATS in its last six game following a SU win by more than 20 points.
I’m just not comfortable laying this much chalk in this matchup, which is why I’ll back the home team and the points.
