The Line: Furman Paladins +7.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The postponed game between the Elon Phoenix and Furman Paladins will take place Monday night. These teams were scheduled to play a couple of weeks ago but Mother Nature had different ideas.
The Phoenix have won seven straight and are putting a little pressure on Davidson for the Southern division lead. In their last five games, they’re averaging 73 points on 44.1 percent shooting and allowing 64.6 points on 38.8 percent shooting. They’ve also made 73.5 percent of their free throws, which is a slight improvement over their season average of 72.8 percent. On the road, they average 70.9 points and allow 72.3 points. They are 10-14 ATS overall and 7-8 ATS on the road.

The Paladins haven’t been so lucky, losing six of their last eight games, but they have won two of their last three. They have struggled all year defensively, allowing 73 points on 45.5 percent shooting on the season. They are 2-10 SU when allowing 70 or more points, as the offense averages only 64 points on 44.5 percent shooting. In order to win they have to keep the game in the 60s. At home they average 68.1 points and give up 70.4 points. They are 8-12 ATS overall and 2-4 ATS at home.
Elon is going to want to speed the game up and score as often as possible, which is going to make Furman uncomfortable. The Paladins aren’t great defensively and don’t have the horses offensively to keep up in a high-scoring affair.
That’s why I’m going with the road team and the chalk in this one. Elon has its eyes set on the Southern Conference title, while Furman has really only had success against the bottom feeders in the conference and is 3-11 SU in conference play.
Elon should win comfortably.
