Storyline: Texas Tech hopes to put the brakes on a three-game slide when they welcome Kansas State to United Spirit Arena Tuesday.

Tech was outshot from the field 56.9 percent to 47.1 percent and from outside the arc 38.9 percent to 33.3 percent, while also conceding a narrow 27-26 advantage on the boards. Meanwhile, Kansas sits in 5th place at 8-6 and comes in off an 86-73 defeat at Oklahoma Saturday. The Wildcats connected on 27 of 54 from the field and 10 of 19 from beyond the arc to the Sooners’ 28 of 55 from inside the arc and 10 of 23 from distance. K-State also conceded a 32-28 rebounding edge and converted 9 of 16 from the free throw line to OU’s 20 of 26. Freshman G Marcus Foster scored a game-high 21 points, including 4 of 7 from downtown, freshman G Nigel Johnson had 11 points and 3 assists off the bench, and junior F Thomas Gipson added 10 points. Through 27 games, the Wildcats are averaging 69.3 ppg on 43.7 percent shooting. Foster leads the team with 15.2 ppg, followed by Gipson at 11.7 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this one is currently set at -1 for Texas Tech. K-State scored a 66-58 home victory over Tech about a month ago, holding them 19 of 56 from the floor, while hitting 22 of 50. These two are fairly close statistically, but as desperate as the Wildcats are for a win, the Red Raiders have them beat. Look for a Tech cover.
