The Indiana State Sycamores will play their last regular season road game when they take on the Illinois State Redbirds. These teams played one another a month ago and Indiana State won 76-62.
The Sycamores are coming off a surprising road loss to Missouri State. In the loss, they shot just 36.2 percent from the field and turned the ball over 15 times. They were also just 5-24 from downtown. In their last five games, they’re averaging 62.6 points on 41.1 percent shooting and allowing 61.2 points on 40.4 percent shooting. On the road, they average 72 points and allow 71 points. They are 11-14 ATS overall and 7-7 ATS on the road.

The Redbirds are coming off a road loss to Northern Iowa and have lost three of their last five games. During this shaky stretch, they’re averaging 72.6 points on 44.4 percent shooting and allowing 74.4 points on 47 percent shooting. Offense has been an issue for them all season, but they’ve scored at least 70 points in four of their last seven games. At home they average 69.7 points and allow 63.9 points. They are 10-16 ATS overall and 7-6 ATS on their home court.
Although the Redbirds have been playing better basketball recently and will certainly be up for this game, it’s nearly impossible to turn down the Sycamores at this price. We’re talking about clearly the second best team in the Missouri Valley Conference, and a team that’s looking to rebound after an embarrassing performance just a couple of days ago.
Indiana State won the earlier meeting pretty easily and has won five of the last seven meetings SU as well.
The Sycamores are 12-4 SU in conference play and two of those losses came to Wichita State. I’ll take my chances picking the better team on the road in a toss-up.
