TV: NBC Sports Network

The Duquesne Dukes will be the latest team that tries to snap the Saint Louis Billikens massive winning streak. These teams met in mid-January and the Billikens won a close one, 76-72.

Since that competitive matchup, the Dukes have been in a freefall, losing six of their last seven games. They shoot just 43.9 percent from the field and average 73.5 points. Their real problem is their defense that allows 74 points on 46 percent shooting. In fact, in their last five games, they’re allowing teams to shoot 47.8 percent from the field. On the road, they average 75 points and allow 75 points. They are 10-5-2 ATS overall and 6-2-1 ATS away from home.

Saint Louis Billikens vs. Duquesne Dukes - 2/27/14

Scott Kane-USA TODAY Sports

The Billikens still have not lost since the first of December and remain unbeaten in conference play. All of this starts on the defensive end, as they’re allowing 60.5 points on 39.5 percent shooting on the season. They’ve allowed only two teams in their last seven teams to score at least 70 points. Offensively, they’re shooting 47.3 percent and averaging 69.8 points in their last five games. At home they average 73.6 points and allow 59.5 points. They are 9-15 ATS overall and 5-7 ATS at home.

As expected, the oddmakers jacked the spread up a little too high for my taste. Sure, the Dukes aren’t a very good team overall, but they’ve done a nice job of playing close games against quality opponents. Not just was the previous meeting tight, but they just lost by three points to Dayton and four points to St. Bonaventure.

The Dukes are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games and are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

Saint Louis will continue its winning streak, but this game will be closer than expected.
