The Murray Racers maintain a share of first in the OVC with a victory at Tennessee-Martin Thursday.
Murray State is back on the map in the Ohio Valley with their high scoring offense leading the way to a 12-2 record and first place tie at the top with Belmont. The surging Racers have won four in a row after knocking off visiting Morehead State 69-58 on Saturday with a 40-23 first halt putting this one in the win column. The Racers had no problem finding the bottom of the basket at 51% with the Eagles hitting at 42% with a 15-4 advantage at the line being decisive. Cameron Payne scored 23 points with Jeffery Moss adding 15 points and five yanks while Jarvis Williams and Dexter Fields netted 13 and ten points with Williams posting six pulls.

I thought Tennessee-Martin had a better then average chance of escaping the Ohio Valley basement especially with Tennessee State losing virtually all of their production but with only two games remaining both are tied with 3-11 records and tied for last. The Skyhawks let a chance to get out of the cellar slip through their fingers in a 77-74 loss to visiting Southeast Missouri State on Saturday. Both teams connected in the 49% range with UTM sinking more shots and holding a 9-3 edge on threes but the Redhawks prevailed with a 24-11 edge at the foul line. Terence Smith led a trio of DD scorers with 23 points and five pulls with the tandem of Dee Oldham and Marshun Newell tossing in 19 and 16 points.
For some reason I am looking at Tennessee-Martin with a wary eye even though Murray State is hot and can't afford a loss. Doing my best to fight off those Skyhawks voices n my head...
