The Texas-Arlington Mavericks get their shot at seed Georgia State at College Park Center.
I think most opponents know the way to stop Georgia State is to somehow control their potent offense and make sure their own attack is putting up points. Controlling the scoreboard is easier said then done as Louisiana-Lafayette discovered in an 80-77 defeat to the Panthers on Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns did have things under control for 20 minutes wth an eight point lead before GSU exploded for a 50 point second half run. The Panthers hit at 49% which outlasted ULL's 43% and ten bombs. Ryan Harrow led the scoring with 18 points with Devonta White adding 17 followed by Manny Atkins and and Marcus Crider with 12 points each while RJ Hunter tossed in 14.

In all honesty Texas-Arlington wasn't given much ink in the preason predictions and I can't say I was in disagreement. However it appears the Mavericks have been playing competitive basketball as of late and if the season ended tomorrow I'd venture to say many teams would prefer to see somebody else in the conference playoffs. UTA knocked off Arkansas-Little Rock 75-71 on the road Saturday with nearly 45% shooting and 10-24 long range accuracy combining with a 23-12 advantage at the stripe over coming the Trojans 39% accuracy and 21 more looks. Jamal Outler gave the Mavericks 21 points followed by a 17 point, nine pull performance from Brandon Edwards with Reger Dowell netting 15 points and posting five assists.
Georgia State is hands down the best the Sun Belt has to offer and has nothing to really play for. Texas-Arlington has played better then their record and could put up a fight at home so I'm inclined to take the points but this is a long shot...
